Darwin Port Operations Pty Ltd (Port Operator) is the appointed Port Operator in accordance with the Ports Management Act 2015 (NT) (the Act) and has responsibility for the establishment, management, maintenance and operation of the facilities and services within the Port of Darwin that promote its safe and efficient operation.
In accordance with the Act and to disseminate a standard for safe operations, the Port Operator prepared a Port Safety Plan (PSP) which was approved by the Regional Harbourmaster on 26 February 2016.
The objectives of the PSP are to set out a framework that identifies hazard and risk management and their controls, describe the methodology of safety management and how communication and consultation between the Port Operator, tenants, licensees and service providers are reasonably administered.
The PSP’s intent is to ensure that a collaborative and systematic approach to safety management by the Port Operator and its tenants, licensees and service providers is delivered across the Port of Darwin.
